How to Draw Kohaku from Dr. Stone

Let’s learn how to draw Kohaku from Dr. Stone today!
Kohaku (コハク) is one of the two main female protagonists in Dr. Stone series. She is a young woman who is a descendant of modern humans. Kohaku was born in Ishigami Villiage, with her older sister Ruri. Since learning about science and the delicate, complicated work it takes to make modern inventions, Kohaku often teams up with Chrome to scavenge for ingredients.

Kohaku is a young woman of average height with a slim figure. She has a delicate face with blue eyes. Her blond hair is tied-up in a spiky ponytail. Her appearance shows a mixed between an american and japanese heritage. She wears a crude, navy blue dress. Underneath she has makeshift garments akin to a bra and a fundoshi (traditional Japanese garment). The dress is tied with a rope in the middle. She also wears a uniquely shaped stone sandals.

Kohaku is a kind young woman, caring deeply for her sickly older sister, her fellows, and anyone she’s loyal to. Kohaku is a tomboy. In addition to this, she has a reckless and hotheaded personality. She often reacts in anger to being called a gorilla or lioness due to her strength and physicality. She enjoys nature, excels at fighting, hunting, and general survival skills, having little interest in more typical feminine activities and has little knowledge about them. She possesses a sharp instinct and intellect. At the beginning, Kohaku tends to be a hair-trigger away from attacking people she distrusts. She also possesses a strong sense of justice, which in pair with her hotheadedness leads her into dangerous situations. Over time Kohaku grows out of this habit, but her temper is still a problem. She’s repeatedly impressed by Senku’s scientific creations, although at first, it took her a while to accept that it’s not simply magic.

Step 1

As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.

Step 9

Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneaded eraser on the paper. Make sure to refer to the picture bellow as you need to ink only some parts of the construction lines.

Step 10

Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.

Step 11

To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.

If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Kohaku from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^-^.
Draw with passion! ^_^
