Let’s learn how to draw Kei Nagai’s Black Ghost from Ajin today!
Kei Nagai (永井 圭) is the main protagonist of the Ajin series. He is a 17 years old student, who discovers he is an “Ajin” when he is fatally wounded in a traffic accident. Ajins are a small number of humans possessing immortality and extreme regenerative abilities that trigger upon death, allowing them to completely recover from any mortal injury in a matter of seconds.
Some of Ajins can also create “Black Ghosts”, highly dangerous combat-oriented entities that are only visible to other Ajins. Black Ghosts are made up of Invisible Black Matter (the main source of an Ajin’s powers), resistant to physical injury and exhibit extraordinary physical strength. They normally have a humanoid form but can have inhuman characteristics, standing at over two meters tall. They also have sharp teeth and claws. Each Ajin can manifest a unique Black Ghost. Even though they are usually used for combat purposes, they can also be utilized in other ways if their hosts know how to control them properly. These Black Ghosts also seem to have a will of their own and are shown to be quite intelligent and often mimic speech and the ‘core’ personality of their host. However, there are also cases where Black Ghosts are left to their own will due to their host’s negligence to control them or failure to do so. Only a fatal blow to the head by another Ghost can destroy a Ghost, because their heads are the only weak point.
Thanks a lot to Kion Edwards for request. ^_^
As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.
There are also some new lines so better sketch them in pencil first ^_^.
Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.
To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.
If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Kei Nagai Black Ghost from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^_-.
Draw with passion! ^_^
